Electricity

Hi! I'm Morgan and we are learning about electricity. Last week we did an experement on how to light a lightbulb. It was a blast! We had to light it using a battery, aluminum foil, tape and a lightbulb. It was tricky but eventually everyone got it!
In science we are learning  about positive and negative charges and doing experements on picking up different objects with a balloon. We can't wait for a new experiment!

First week of February

Even with a snow day we were able to get a lot accomplished this week!  We began our research for our book we are creating for Writing and took fast a furious notes.  The students are learning and sharing tons of information with each other.

During our technology time students are creating a shared Google presentation about St. Louis to share with students in Irving, Texas.  This is part of  the Virtual Valentine Project.  This project has students use technology to learn about other school and states. We will be sending our project on Valentine's Day and also receiving a project from the student in Texas!

In math we have been working in our geometry unit.  Students created Symmetry Mosaics to show symmetry.  They did a terrific job!

Here are a few details for next week:
  • Wednesday, February 12 is an early release day.  Dismissal is 1:40.  Please make sure your child know where to go after school.
  • Next Friday is our class Valentine's Day party.  Students will be allowed to pass our Valentines. If they choose to pass out cards they must have one for each student in class.  We have a total of 21 students.
  • Six Flags read to succeed forms are due on February 20!  There is still time to earn a free ticket to Six Flags this summer.
  • Doodle 4 Google!  Each year Google has a contest to create a doodle around a theme.  This year's theme is "If I Could Invent One Thing To Make The World A Better Place..."  I have explained the contest to students.  With all the indoor recess we are having, I thought it might be fun for students. They can create their design at indoor recess or at home.  This is an OPTIONAL!  For more information click here : http://www.google.com/doodle4google/
