Literacy Festival!

Today we had our Literacy Festival. Students participated in a variety of activities focused on reading and writing. We started our day with an presentation by Michael Rex! He is the author of Fangbone, Goodnight Goon, and his new series Icky Ricky. He taught us how to add humor in our writing. Students made a drawing and added funny sayings to tell about the picture.  We then heard a story from Mrs. Nelson-Link. She read a story called Catching the Moon. In the afternoon we went out to our new courtyard to pick out books and read. The students picked out two books to keep! We then wrote thank you notes for our presenters. Great day!

Book Trailers!

Today students created a movie trailer based on a book their Book Club read during reading. Groups read Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, How to Steal a Dog, Because of Winn-Dixie, and City of Ember. They used the iPads and the app iMovie to create their movie trailers!  They did a great job with the limited time they had. Take a look!
